Lawn Mowers and Opposition

This week was pretty fun, we went walking a lot to find people to teach. We would be like "oh, I like your lawnmower can I see it?" and I'd start mowing their lawn while Elder Baird talks to them, or vice versa haha. And a homeless guy called us Mercenaries instead of Missionaries which was kind of funny. Cool story, we met someone that just moved from Burma, I think it's also called Myanmar, and so he spoke only a little english. As soon as he figured out we were "church people" he shook our hands and pointed us to where his house is and told us that he is Christian too and he is "sorry, alcohol no good, sorry alcohol no good"

Opposition is really necessary in order to be able to choose, it's really cool. in 2 Nephi chapter 2 we read;
11 For it must needs be, that there is an opposition in all things. If not so, my firstborn in the wilderness, righteousness could not be brought to pass, neither wickedness, neither holiness nor misery, neither good nor bad. Wherefore, all things must needs be a compound in one; wherefore, if it should be one body it must needs remain as dead, having no life neither death, nor corruption nor incorruption, happiness nor misery, neither sense nor insensibility.

 12 Wherefore, it must needs have been created for a thing of naught; wherefore there would have been no purpose in the end of its creation. Wherefore, this thing must needs destroy the wisdom of God and his eternal purposes, and also the power, and the mercy, and the justice of God.

 13 And if ye shall say there is no law, ye shall also say there is no sin. If ye shall say there is no sin, ye shall also say there is no righteousness. And if there be no righteousness there be no happiness. And if there be no righteousness nor happiness there be no punishment nor misery. And if these things are not there is no God. And if there is no God we are not, neither the earth; for there could have been no creation of things, neither to act nor to be acted upon; wherefore, all things must have vanished away.

I love being a missionary!!! People's lives can be so much happier if they'd just listen to God and choose good over evil, I know this. I know that the Bible and the Book of Mormon are the word of God, and that as we study them we become closer to God. I love you all and I'll talk to you next week
