This past week we've gotten more corn than usual from everybody. Iowa Perks. We have had corn almost every night for dinner, just boiling it up, sometimes with Tapatio when we're feelin a little crazy. I also made Horchata but wasn't very good. I love being in Perry, Iowa. This place is seriously the best!!

I love being a missionary, seriously, seeing people hesitant about keeping commandments and coming to church and reading the scriptures and then they do it and see blessings from God. I used to think "blessings" was like some figurative equivalent to brownie points or gold bricks we accrue and then receive when we die. But no they're RIGHT NOW. As we go to church, it literally makes our day and week HAPPIER. When we read the scriptures, it gives us spiritual insights RIGHT THEN to change ourselves, or to help others, or to just comfort ourselves when we feel down. Prayer gives us strength, knowledge, comfort, and a relationship with Heavenly Father. Each commandment has blessings. I know blessings are real and come from God when we do what he asks. I love this gospel that allows us to always change.

Doctrine and Covenants 130: 

20 There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated—

21 And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated.
